ABC-CLIO is not necessarily a pro/con database but it gives you current and reliable information to help you make you point.

  • Click on TOPICS and search for your topic
  • From the left column choose Overview and Current View & Outlook to get the basics on your topic
  • Discussion questions can help you form a thesis statement
  • Timeline, General Resources, and Documents (primary sources) can help support your position

Browse the CATEGORIES to find your topic

  • Clicking on a topic opens to an OVERVIEW of your topic
  • From the left side of the page click on POINTS OF VIEW for POINT & COUNTERPOINT
  • From the left side of the page choose articles to substantiate your point:
    • Magazines, newspapers, radio & TV transcripts, & Primary Source 
  • Narrow your search even more from the left side of the page by date, subject, cover story, etc

Find a Topic or Article:

  • Go to "Advanced Search"
  • Scroll down a little to the "Current Events" box.
  • Choose a topic. Click on "Cover Story" if you want an in-depth, important article.
  • Click Search. You can "Limit" even more once you've got the results page.

PRO/CON.ORG

Easy to follow and clear information but limited topics.

  • Scroll down the page for Pro/Con arguments
  • If you find a good argument then link to the footnote
    • Find the actual article in one of the Library/Learning Commons databases
    • Try an EBSCO MAGAZINE or NEWSPAPER database
